So, I have concocted a strategy for how to use social media to help advertise Xbox 36o. Basically, my idea is to market toward younger children, who then can convince their parents to buy the Xbox 360s, considering the parents are the ones who have the money to buy them. I suggested that they use Facebook, Twitter, a blog page, and a website to engage gamers, and to tell them about new products, and promotions and incentives. I also suggested the use of charity organizations. These will give the customers more power to get involved and find things out about the game system they love. Since the target audience for the Xbox 360 is already very social media savvy, I figured its the perfect way to advertise to them.

Well, it’s time for another awkwardly off-topic post that I have to write about for my social media class…haha.

Well, to start off, I think it is very important to note that the future of business, in general, is going to be online. It is already very rare to find businesses that don’t have some sort of presence on the internet, especially a succesful one. I mean think about it, it’s like the guy from the video, that we watched for class, said, Amazon.com did so well, because it’s impossible for one book store to have millions and millions of books. By being online, businesses have the opportunity to reach out to a larger demographic. One of the articles talked about how certain movies are rarely played in theatres, because there’s not a large enough audience for them in a particular area. By being online, people can purchase items from anywhere in the world with ease.

When I’m not slinging beer as a Bud Girl, I spend my time as an on-air DJ at KTSW 89.9 San Marcos. It came to my attention, at our last staff meeting, that although we have a website, we don’t have an iPhone app. So, I came up with an idea, and here it is…

My idea is to have a screen that allows you to listen live to whatever it is we are playing (or saying) over the air at that very moment. There would also be a screen with a chat room, much like the one on our website, where DJ’s and listeners can chat about the station. There would also be a screen with a list of al the music we just played, in case the listeners hear something they like. There will also be a screen with pictures and information about all of the staff at KTSW. So…whatdya think??

One thing that every Bud Girl stands behind…Drinking Responsibly! Remember, if you drink our beer, make sure you have a designated driver. More than anything, we want to make sure your family and friends make it home safely.

We can often be found at events seeking participants to sign up with us for a free soft drink, pledging that they will abstain from drinking for the night, so they can insure the safety of the other members of their party. Although we find it important to advertise our product, your saftey is most important, so please remember…responsibility matters.

Mac vs PC

We watched a couple videos in my class about Mac’s and PC’s, and now it’s time to give my opinion on the debate. Mac or PC?

I’ve always preferred PCs because I grew up with them, I’m comfortable with them, and I know how to use them. The first time I used a Mac, it was very foreign to me. Something as simple as pulling up a web page, or even just exiting out of one, confused me to no end. I just felt that in order to look cooler, Mac sacrificed simplicity. Besides, I couldn’t just ignore the gigantic price tag they attached. Hey, I AM a college student!

However, after taking more time to get used to a Mac, (my roommate is OBSESSED with all things Mac) I began to see the perks. As he so poetically puts it, “It’s simple. PC has bugs, Mac doesn’t. Mac wins.” haha Although he does have a point, and I definitely understand what he means, I know that there is more to it to that. Apparently, if you want extras on your PC (photoshop, video editing, etc.) you’re going to have to pay for it, big time. Just the anti-virus software alone is going to cost you, which all adds on to the low price of a PC, that is already tacked on to the price of the Mac when you buy it. So, maybe the price issue…really isn’t that much of an issue. I know that I have personally had a lot of problems with my PC, and just the cost of the diagnoses at Best Buy is enough to make me light-headed.

So, after reading up on the issue a little bit more, I guess I can get behind all of these Mac fanatics. I mean they definitely have a reliable machine to do their research on. I’ve also heard that the awesome PC commercials were actually made with Macs…but thats just hear-say…

I’m am currently taking a class about social media…twitter, facebook, etc. We watched a video today about the history of the internet, and I saw a scene that reminded me of my first internet experiences. I remember as a child, trying to get on the phone (this was before cell phones ruled the world) only to realize that my mother was blocking the line…because she was on the computer! It’s amazing how quickly things change, how swiftly technology develops. I just can’t wait until we all have video phones, like the ones on Zenon:Girl of the 21st Century, does anyone remember that movie?? However, when I think about that, because I’m sure it’s coming soon, I can’t help but wonder….what if I look like complete crud? I wouldn’t even be able to answer my phone! haha

p.s. Does anyone remember the show, Space Cases, on Snick? I feel like I’m the only one that remembers that show… :/

Bud Girl-Day 1

The night I found out I was going to be a Bud Girl, my friends and I went out to celebrate. Needless to say, I was excited:

My first gig was at a Wade Bowen concert, at Cowboys Dance Hall. My duties included wearing a very pretty, and very short, Bud Light Dress,

and handing out free merchandise. Basically, I tried to convince people to put away whatever they were drinking, and switch to a Budweiser product. However, it felt more like my job was to fend off creepers…just a tip: when you see a beer girl…don’t grope, and don’t bogart their time, they have a job to do. But don’t worry, they are happy to be there, or they wouldn’t be doing it, so it’s okay to have fun, chat, and take pictures. Just remember, they are being paid to be there, so they probably aren’t just dyyyying for your number. Harsh? Maybe, but this blog is called “Confessions” for a reason. Now you know. Don’t worry, I’m not a meanie at all, in fact, all of the promotional models I have met so far have been very sweet girls, who love to have a good time. Just remember, that’s someone’s daughter…so hands off the merchandise please.
